Martha at Walmart

So Chad and I were in Louisiana this weekend for his dad’s surprise birthday party, and every time we head down there I have to stop by at Walmart…especially this time so I could see for myself the new Martha Stewart line. Now I haven’t stopped in at Michael’s in a while so I’m not sure that these designs are totally exclusive to Walmart, but they were all new to me, so I bought a ton, including that scrapbook at the bottom….its small and colorful, perfect for kids [kiddie table anyone?], but even more perfect for me! I’ll probably throw in some random wedding photos and memorabilia in mine.

Free Design Goodies

I recently discovered the blog Free Design Goodies via decor8, and just love it….Summer Allen-Gibson has collected all the cool free stuff from other sites and blogs and collected them up in one place…my favorites so far are the free labels and peony card from Creature Comforts.

DIY gift tags

For my out of town totes, I needed to make quick and easy tags so the hotel would know who they were for. I was pressed for time, and didn’t feel like going out to buy something pre-made…but a quick peek into my craft cabinet led to the discovery of manilla tags. I had tons of leftover bits of wrapping paper in the right color scheme, so I broke out the spray glue and went to work. Be sure to use LOTS of newspaper to surround the area because spray glue gets everywhere. Just spray a light coat on the back of the tag, and press firmly onto the gift wrap, wallpaper, whatever you’re using. Let it set, then cut around the tags with an exacto knife, then hole punch the hole back, and you’re done! Quick, easy, CHEAP, and uses up all those little bits you might have lying around.

Cake topper

After slaving away for nights, the cake topper is finally complete. You’ll notice Kiki, my maid of honor, putting it all together, being a good friend and all.  There are vintage flowers from Tinsel Trading, the fabric for my dress is ACTUAL fabric from my dress, Chad’s tux is velvet ribbon, and the green fabric is leftover from my vase cozies. You’ll maybe notice the dove on Chad’s shoulder and the rat peeking out from under my dress….its an inside joke that dates back to the day we got engaged…maybe one day I’ll tell it to you.

This site helped a lot with the construction, so check it out if you feel like making your own.
