Alyssa McElheny of Alyssa M Photography is a wedding photography from Michigan who like many, fell in love with Brooklyn and all she has to offer! She came up with this great fashion shoot using dresses from Ceremonia NYC, gathered some goodies from a junk shop, and cobbled together a bouquet and hairpiece all herself! So impressive! I’ll let her tell the rest…
I’ve twice had the opportunity in the last few months to travel to and stay in Brooklyn. I’m in love with the city and the people and the hustle and the art. After staying in Bushwick during my first trip, I knew that I had to photograph a bride there. That’s where Brooklyn-based Ceremonia NYC came in! They’re a fantastic bridal company who just started their own line of beautiful, easy gowns. I was so thrilled and honored to work with them on this project. I wanted my bride to be cool, effortless, and natural yet still dramatic. Ceremonia’s Carleen Cloud gown was perfect for my bride. I found some bridal accessories in a local Brooklyn junk shop, journeyed to NYC’s floral district at the crack of dawn to gather the day’s blooms, and put together a wreath and bouquet in my charming Greenpoint Airbnb. We walked the streets of Brooklyn on a sunny Sunday morning, popped into a few local shops, and shot a variety of looks. This shoot is so Brooklyn in every way and I can only dream of shooting this sort of bride in a real Brooklyn wedding.
