DIY: Dinner Napkins

What you’ll need for this super easy DIY is:

  • Fabric (of your choice) – We used cotton chambray
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Paint Brush
  • Fabric Paint

Before you begin with these 3 steps, you’ll need to cut your fabric in squares.  A typical dinner napkin size is 18 in x 18 in.

1. Come up with a pattern- trace if necessary.

2.  Get your paint out and paint brushes ready.

3. Paint your heart away.  Make sure you have something under your fabric to catch the paint if it runs through your fabric.

Easy peasy, right??

We had so much fun with these!

DIY: Paper Fan

Make a statement during your wedding ceremony with super simple DIY fans for your guests.

Materials needed:

  •  Decorative paper
  • 2 craft sticks
  • Glue
  • Pencil for marking
  • Ruler for measuring
  • X acto knife
  • Clip

Step 1

Measure out paper the length of your craft stick.

Mark with pencil across paper.

Take ruler and cut along with x acto knife (make sure to use some type of cutting mat underneath).

Step 2

With your 6” strips of paper, start to accordion-fold each row of paper to desired length.

Step 3

Apply glue on each side of craft stick and place in the center (back  side) of  the folded paper.

Step 4

After glue on the glue stick has set for 5 or so minutes. Apply glue on the bottom of each side of the fan.   Then clip wet edges until dry (about 15 minutes).

Step 5

While glue is drying on fan, cut about a .5 inch by 5-6 inch strip of paper (will use to wrap around glued base of fan)

 Step 6 (optional)

You can paint craft sticks to add more character to craft stick.

 Step 6

Unclip fan and apply glue to the strip of paper.  Wrap strip around tightly to add extra support to base.  Let dry.

That’s it! Have your guests enjoy these cute fans during your wedding ceremony or during your reception program to stay cool!

DIY: “Will you be my bridesmaid” flipbook printable

A couple of weeks ago I showed some rad ideas on how to ask your dearest friends to be your bridesmaid. This week I commissioned illustrator Victoria Riza to come up with another way and she created the most adorable flipbook that you can send in the mail. All you have to do is print it off and assemble!

Materials: print off this template, chipboard for cover, thread, pretty paper

Step 1: Once you’ve printed off the template, cut out all the pieces and assemble them in order.  Note: there are three of each page so that the book is lengthened.

Step 2: Use the chipboard as the cover. Use a tutorial (like this one or this one) for the book binding technique or just staple it together and cover with washi tape.

Isn’t it too cute! How fun would it be to receive this in the mail?!
