THE CARD SWAP IS NOW CLOSED
Can you believe its already that time again? I’m having trouble coming to grips that the year is already almost over and that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Its also a little hard to believe that this will be the FIFTH year I’m doing this! 5! Its been so great to see new names crop up in my inbox over the years who are either doing the swap for the first time or since the very beginning…not just locally, but globally as well.
In true card swap tradition, I asked a talented designer to design the logo for this years card swap, so thank you to Annemarie Buckley of Scout’s Honor Co! Im such a fan of hers and so grateful she was able to do it!
Here are the rules:
Send an email to me at brooklynbride [at] gmail [dot] com with Holiday Card Swap in the subject line by November 23 [day before Thanksgiving]. Include your name, address, email address, website/blog address and twitter handle [if you have these]. Please send your email in this format…
123 Main St. #25
Anytown NY 12345
– By December 1, I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to 5 people to send cards to.
– Your cards must be handmade [think Gocco, glitter, Photoshop, cut + paste, sewing, etc….] Make something that’s easy to do multiples of. You’ll be sending 1 card to each person on your list, and add in a special holiday greeting!
– Send out your cards by December 15 at the latest! Easy squeezy!
Wait patiently by your mailbox! The swap is open to our international audience, so pay special attention to postage. Please don’t disappoint your partners if you know you won’t be able to send out cards on time, or at all.

When I first started getting responses to the card swap, I had to think about what I could do this year that would be different and special from past years. As the numbers rose well past 200, I had to think large scale since I send EVERYONE on the list a card! I enlisted the help of the INSANELY talented Randi Brookman Harris [whose wedding and styling I have adored forever] and Jenny Ebert [a photographer I adore!] to help me set up a card shoot that could double as a gift. Randi mixed in some stuff I owned with her own to create this gorgeous backdrop, and her dog Olive ended up getting into the holiday spirit as well! I’ll leave you this holiday season with some outtakes from the shoot….thank you Randi and Jenny for helping me with this! You’re both amazing amazing amazing!!
I’ll see you all back here in 2010…have a wonderful holiday filled with love and laughter!

Happy happy thanksgiving everyone! Much like everyone else, I’m taking the rest of the week off to reflect, relax, and rip into some turkey down south in Louisiana, so I’ll see you back here on Monday!
And don’t forget….
If you’re interested but having signed up for the card swap yet, today at 3pm EST is your last chance, so don’t delay! No joke, this is the biggest swap we’ve have yet! I keep having to go out and buy more envelopes! See the full info at the original post. CARD SWAP IS NOW CLOSED
Oh, and there’s been a question some of you have had about how the swap works…essentially you’re sending 1 card to each person in your card swap group, and its as if you’re sending a card to a friend, so yes, feel free to write a note inside!
