Real wedding: Lindsay + Joey

You all must remember Lindsay + Joey’s engagement photos from last year, so I’m so happy to be able to show off their wedding!

Everyone told us it would be, and our wedding indeed turned out to be the best day of our lives.  The experience of having everyone important to us gathered in one place to celebrate our commitment to each other was surreal.

We wanted our wedding to be rustic and chic at the same time–classy, but casual.  We also wanted to get married in my home town – Sacramento.  Not only did we have a personal friendship with the Wilson family, but we fell in love with Wilson Vineyards from the second we saw it.  Located in Clarksburg, just outside of Sacramento, it truly captures everything that is great about California’s Central Valley.  A beautiful old barn sits on the property overlooking the vineyards on one side and a creek on the other.  We held the ceremony just outside the barn on the lawn, and shaded everyone under parasols.

Immediately following the ceremony we held a cocktail hour on the lawn, and our dear friend, soul singer Chris Pierce and his band performed for our first dance (his song, “Slow Life”), with an hour-long set to follow for us all to dance to.

We held the rest of the dancing, as well as dinner, cake-cutting, and toasts inside the open-air barn, with only a brief and spontaneous migration out into the vineyards to witness the staggering sunset. The buffet-style feast was at once a raving success and our biggest regret of the night – we got so caught up talking and dancing that we didn’t eat a bite! Luckily, we knew from our tasting that the food was superb; our friends still talk about it. We danced the remaining hours until the party’s end, and left on an enduring high.

Our memories are enhanced by photographer Brion Hopkins’ artful capturing of the faces, the energy, and the ambiance created by the hard work of everyone listed below. His knack for shooting in an original, yet timeless fashion was the reason we chose him and is the reason we’re thankful to have his photos as the lasting record of the best day of our lives.
