Sunrise Dumbo Elopement

Bethany and Jenni were set to have a big wedding and to celebrate with all their friends and family, but after planning an apartment hunting trip to NYC—the city they would soon be calling home—they sent a note to see if Par La Mer Photography was available in case they wanted to, you know, just elope while they were in town. No biggie, really. Turns out that plan was a good one because they were able to get a marriage license just in time before everything started shutting down for COVID. The brides exchanged vows and said, “I do!” right along the river at sunrise (those COLORS!), then toured around DUMBO for these incredibly sweet and chic portraits!

How did you meet?

My best friend and roommate introduced us! I had recently came out to him and he knew just the person to set me up with! -Bethany

What is your proposal story?

I had Jenni’s ring for MONTHS. Literally just holding onto it. So I picked a day for “family pictures” so we could get dressed up without her being suspicious. When we got there, there was a candlelit path to an altar and I read to her what I had written months prior. All of our family and friends were there to surprise her too!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Seeing the city lit up and the sky looking like actual cotton candy while marrying the love of my life.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Honestly after canceling everything we had planned due to Covid, just go with the flow. We knew how much we wanted to be married and that’s the most important thing. So we made it happen!
