Brides New York is looking for an engaged couple in the NY/NJ/CT area for their Find Our Wedding Style feature. You might remember our apartment was featured last year, and I can tell you first hand its totally fun! If you’re interested, read on.
We photograph an engaged couple’s apartment. Based on elements from their home (furniture, wall décor, knick knacks, etc.) we create ideas for their wedding. The couple is not required to use any of our ideas, and it’s okay if they already have elements of their wedding in place. The purpose of the story is to show readers how items from their day to day life can inspire great ideas, and how their interior design aesthetic can be translated into wedding details. No fancy digs needed—what I’m looking for is a distinct style we’ll have fun working with. All that’s required from the couple is an afternoon for our team to come
over and take photos.
If you know of any interested couples, please have them email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. They should include the following in the email:
-any thoughts they already have about their wedding
-a brief description about what they feel their style is
-five to seven photos of their home (a few wide shots and close ups of any details they feel are particularly “them”) so we can get of what their living space is like
-one or two pictures of themselves
I would love to have submissions by Monday, August 24th.

As I mentioned last week, my dearest friend Christina and her hunny Jack got married up in New Hampshire in a gorgeous, homemade wedding at the Harris Center. It truly was a labor of love, with friends pitching in with their various talents, and I swear to you, I have never heard more heartfelt vows than the ones these two shared. Jack’s friend Nadine did the flowers, her boyfriend Scott was the DJ, I played wedding planner and assistant florist, their friend Doug got ordained to marry them, Christina’s sister did the invites, and another friend Andrew mixed some fabulous cocktails (honey lavender lemonade, yum!) The food was all organic, and there was no wedding cake (egads!), but something WAY better….an ice cream bar with fresh local ice cream, berries and cream. Jen Huang did an amazing job with the photos and has some more up on her blog, so enjoy!
So, big news….I’ve started working out with a trainer. Ok, so you may not think thats HUGE news, but it is for me. I’m pretty lazy, and its about time I did something about that. Funny thing is, I was NEVER this motivated before my own wedding (someone raise their hand and tell me they felt the same way!) I don’t know why, I had the gym membership, maybe even a trainer at one point, but I never went. And the wedding came and went, and I still never went. So now I’ve started at NY Personal Training…a week and a half in, and I’m feeling pretty sore, but in that good sore way. The nice thing is that the gym is private, so you’re working with trainers the entire time. Its been a good way to keep me accountable for going and excellent motivation for you brides who are like me.
As something very cool, the owner of the gym, Mike Shaw, is offering you NY brides $250 off their Wedding Shapeup package. Just mention Brooklyn Bride when you call to schedule an appointment!
