So much goes into making our clients’ vision for their wedding come to life, but what happens when the party planners themselves have to throw their own party? A whole lot of amazing, it turns out!

Entwined is a New York City-based networking group for the wedding industry. Started by Thea Bloch-Neal, the accessories designer behind HushedCommotion and Patricia Kim, the wedding stationer behind Fourteen-Forty, Entwined throws creative and fun soireés for wedding professionals to meet, relax, and collaborate! Because weddings are such a team effort, it’s so important for creatives to get to know each other, and Entwined has filled a true need in NYC for curated events where this can happen.

This summer, we planned a special event to showcase the talents of the members of our group, which was really such a great reason to get the whole Entwined family together for a fun evening! Together with Squarespace (all of our vendors for this event use Squarespace, we love it!), we put together a Summer BBQ Soirée at Industry City in Brooklyn. It was a true collaborative effort and it was such a joy to be able to showcase the talents of so many people we know and love in our community.

We were incredibly fortunate to have the cooking talents of Saucy by Nature, amazing design work by Tinsel & Twine as well as Michelle Bablo (don’t you love the floating fringe?), drinks from Brooklyn Brewery, and live musical entertainment from Mix Tape: A Cover Band for Hipsters, Photographer Chaz Cruz took the gorgeous photos and Courtney of Love Brain Films captured it all perfectly with an amazing video.

It was a truly magical night!

Real wedding: Valerie + Lukasz

Bar copy

This wedding was truly a great marriage of modern & vintage, pairing a stark white space with industrial details to warm it up.  Very beautiful and chic all at the same time.

This bride and groom had a very specific style that paired a modern, clean canvas with antique details like wire birdcages, edison bulbs, raw material edges, and mismatched silverware. Their industrial chic wedding at Park Studios featured dramatic curtains of bistro lights and bare bulbs, corrugated metal vases, mixed metal flatware, and airplant accents. We also helped to curate a quirky collection of curiosities that included a turn-of-the-century bicycle, salvaged ship pulleys, wire dress forms, sun-bleached antlers, and a stuffed armadillo. Yes, an armadillo.

All signage and paper goods featured hand-drawn illustrations and designs mounted on sheets of metal, which we painstakingly patina’d and sanded to get just the right degree of distress. Ceremony programs were bound using the same thin gun-metal wire used in the guests’ Save the Dates and Invitations. The bridal party and dinner table florals included hydrangeas, lavender thistles, dusty miller, juniper berries, berries, and ivory garden roses, all wrapped in metal wire to complement the paper goods.

Honeymoon staycation ideas

I love getting well styled photoshoots in my inbox….I feel like they can capture a new idea really well, and show brides how it can be accomplished.  This one comes thanks to Erica from Tinsel & Twine….I’ll let her explain!  Thanks Erica!

The theme of this photoshoot is a Honeymoon Staycation. We imagined a sweet couple with enough love and wanderlust between them to fill a New York City apartment … but just not the funds to go somewhere far, far away.

We chose a variety of complementary colors, shapes, and textures, but kept our table purposefully imperfect. Each placesetting was dressed with a collection of travel-related accessories like vintage binoculars, passports, and sculptural globes.  To add to the homespun feel of the decor, we created a mobile installation of fanned tissue paper and newsprint.

We also DIY’d a multi-colored cloth and yarn rope to snake down the length of the table. Rather than adding flowery plant-life, we decked the table with hearty airplants anchored in bowls of red beans that hint at some place exotic and tropical. To tie the story together, each placesetting holds a mock boarding pass that doubles as a love note.

We are so proud of our fabulous intern, Natasha Melo, for leading this photoshoot. And of course, we could not have pulled this fun shoot together without the help of our awesome “dream team” made up of the following talented people:

Make-up:  Melissa Cunillera

Modern Fall inspiration shoot

Loved getting this shoot in my inbox from the ladies of Tinsel & Twine…I’m all about taking the inspiration of a season but tweaking it to make it more modern!

For this photoshoot, we planned to create two vignettes that reflected the warm tones of Fall, but without using the traditional combination of burnt reds, oranges, and browns. Instead, we picked a more modern palette of charcoal and cream accented with glints of gold.

Our first set-up is a very sweet breakfast in bed. Imagine waking up on a gloriously lazy Sunday morning. And although the weather is beginning to turn chilly, the sun is shining and you’ve got your love to keep you warm. That, and a sweet surprise from your Honey: pumpkin spiced donuts, fresh flowers, and a little love note! What could be cozier?

The second scene is a table set for a spiced cider and donut brunch with your closest friends. Circular design elements are carried through a collection of dotted vases, speckled menus, a dramatic gilded hanging wreath of hand-crafted paper petals, a cylindrical cakestand, and — of course — carefully architected pyramids of donuts and pastry puffs. So many details to take in make this a truly delicious feast for friends!
