Icelandic wedding fashion

I just got back from a 2 week trip to Iceland that rocked my world. From the mountains to the hot springs, to the fashion, Iceland was very much the charmer. I had the lucky fortune to be there for a fashion exhibition at the National Museum, which showed a collection of dress from the 20th century where I became enamored with this wool wedding dress:

Have you ever seen a wedding dress made of wool? This 1959 high-waisted A-lin was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and was made by dressmaker Sigríði Bjardnadóttir for Greta Håkansson. I love how the designer took a very Icelandic element (wool) and created something very au courant. Notice the bouquet and hat made of the same material and style.

Bridal market: Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013

What an honor to get to be at the Oscar de la Renta runway show!  The dresses were an interesting mix of total classic silhouettes mixed with the modern, then a nod thrown in to the film Black Swan.

I thought all the different bouquets used for the show were quite interesting, especially the flowering branch.  Maybe not very practical, but definitely different!  And check out the blue nail polish…its by Oscar!
