Tablescape challenge: Modern black and white

I’m so excited to get this series started!  We got some great submissions over the last few weeks and this week we’re going to show our favorites!  Next week we’ll announce the winner of the $500 prize thanks to Newlywish!

Our design inspiration is actually one that I have been considering using at my own wedding next Spring.  We love how the paper planes incorporate a strong geometrical accent and also serve as a whimsical throwback.  The baby’s breath softens the look and our florist, Birch Blooms, intended to make them reminiscent of fluffy clouds.  The menus are featured on clear transparencies with white or black ink, the white menus having been designed with original calligraphy by Little Byrd Lettering.  We wanted to achieve a practical table so that guests views wouldn’t be obstructed and used translucent black vases for the tall bouquets, and stout vases holding just a touch of baby’s breath running the length of the table.

We think this is a clear example of why black and white weddings are so classic, and just adore how the crisp white plays against the moody black in a way that’s both elegant and edgy.
