Tablescape challenge: Punchy yellows

Simple. Clean. Modern.

What we love most about this design is that it’s sophisticated while still being a bit playful. A break from the traditional, more feminine inspired blooms, the calla lilies, lush tropical leaves and craspedia are sleeker and definitely give the table a simple, clean, modern look. We love the contrasting tones of the bright yellow calla lilies against the green glass vases and dark gray place settings, such a striking combination! We kept saying “texture and layers” during the shoot and the craspedia and pin cushion protea really achieved that idea. While we decided to use the protea to accent the place setting you can use any type of flower that coordinates with the centerpiece – it’s a great way to continue the design over the entire table and add pops of color. Rather than using a tablecloth on the table the Chilewich placemats are a great addition to the design because of their practicality and texture. The green aluminum wire spiraling between the bud vases, along with the fun, funky craspedia (aka Billy Balls) kept the look fun and whimsical, minimal but not too serious. Overall the design is intended to be simple and striking, a few elements creating a strong impact.
