Modern red & black tablescape

I’d love to introduce you to the latest Brooklyn Bride intern, Michaela!  She’s going to be helping me behind the scenes, and since she did such a great job with her submission for the Modern Tablescape Challenge a few weeks back,  occasionally do some inspirational shoots for us, so give her a big welcome!

I’m Michaela, intern at Brooklyn Bride, writer of bliss! and start-up entrepreneur. As a portfolio project for our new company Hey Look, my business partner Lotta and I wanted to create a very “Brooklyn Bride” inspiration shoot – romantic and whimsical, yet modern and a little bit fancy.

Our aim is to show that you don’t need a lot of fancy and expensive ingredients to set up a gorgeous dinner table. We used 300 red and purple carnations to create the flower decor. Ok, 300 flowers don’t come cheap, but you could use a lot less and fill up the arrangements with greens from a forest. Drinking glasses with pretty black ribbons serve as vases, the table runner is a simple scarf. The menus are printed on basic white paper, cut into small rectangles and glued onto red cards. Add some candles and your favorite dinner ware – and you’re done! Any dresser or side table can serve as a finger food and welcome buffet. Use the same type of flower and candle decor to tie the whole look together. – Michaela
