Real wedding: Tina + Jimmy

 

“Jimmy and Tina were definitely not your typical engaged couple, they were living in Hawaii, yet planning their wedding back home in NYC. Engaged for almost two years, this couple was definitely on island time, but with the help of Jessica Arden Events, they planned their dream wedding in Brooklyn. Tina was set on a casual, kick your shoes off type wedding in a raw space  they could create their own using local, green-friendly vendors. They had a lot of outrageous ideas that basically everyone doubted they could pull off, but they remained confident in fulfilling their dream day. They focused on having only three things- soulful funky music, farm to table dinner, and a decent outdoor view. They absolutely nailed it. They wed in the stunning Most Holy Trinity Parish, exchanged simple gold bands, which they inherited from their parents and grandparents. Upon leaving the church the couple was surprised with a horse drawn Cinderella carriage that cruised around BKNY with crowds cheering all over. 

 

The reception was the largest event to ever be at the North Brooklyn Farms on the Williamsburg waterfront, with to die for skyline views of their favorite city in the world, Manhattan. The menu was so delicately curated to their palates by the fabulous Hearth and Table, a local brooklynite with a very worldly taste. And for music- the couple had local band, High and Mighty Brass Band come jam out, and had their good friend, Dustin (DNA Muzik Group LLC), on the ones and twos in between sets. 

 

From the moment cocktail hour began you couldn’t get people off the dance floor. “It was insane, we had so much fun dancing with all of our friends and family all night long. We couldn’t get people to sit down even if we tried!” It was supposed to hail that day (yes, mid-June), so thanks to an amazing family friend, Megan, they were able to get a last minute tent up, through the Atwell Brothers. “It turned out to be the most gorgeous spring day, but because it was so sunny we were so happy we got the tent to prevent any heat casualties. When you walked under the tent, it was like you were in a hidden jungle oasis in the heart of the greatest, yet busiest city in the world!” Rustic farm tables, palm leaf table runners, custom signs and design elements, and a perfect cozy lounge thanks to Dovetail Vintage and Jessica Arden’s amazing team. 

 

The bride collaborated with dress designer, Joelle Perry Hawaii to recreate Tina’s mothers original wedding dress. It was unique, had a fun mermaid flare, with a sexy slip and open back using the original pearl buttons and all. “It was so incredibly special to be able to wear my moms dress, I knew she was definitely with me.” She accessorized with gorgeous diamond earrings and a bangle from Kravitz Jewelers.  The bridesmaids wore fun dark floral dresses, and Tina’s sister, the maid of honor, wore a light blue version, all by Planet Blue. The day before the wedding they had a couple margaritas and made their own bouquets from flowers picked out by Tina and her sister in law, Mary, at the wholesale floral markets in Chelsea, where all of the flowers came from for the wedding.  “It was so easy, cost effective, and fun to make our own bouquets and design our own tables. I wanted mostly greens, messy, beautiful greens and Hawaiian flowers everywhere.” And that is exactly how it turned out. 

 

The groom wore a classic royal blue suit by Ted Baker, accessorized with Ray Ban club masters and a gold Nixon watch. The groomsmen wore a simple suit variety consisting of greys, browns, blues in pinstripe, solid, tweeds, and more, with or without ties/bow ties. They all had one thing in common- rainbow Stance socks, to rep the aloha spirit, obviously. 

 

 After a few speeches, dance offs, JETS & USA chants, the reception was concluded with some Mr. Softee. But this couple isn’t one to leave a party early, so an after party was definitely in order. They headed to the best mans apartment rooftop, just down the street in Williamsburg, accompanied with the DJ and all, where everyone got even more turnt up. 

 

“It was the best day of our lives! The love and energy felt was so electric, we couldn’t have envisioned our wedding day any differently. SO many mahalos to all!”
