Romantic Modern Brooklyn Wedding

Lauren and Andrew knew they wanted an intimate and unique venue as they began planning their wedding and didn’t have to look any further than Brooklyn Winery to get exactly what they were hoping for. They chose a classic palette of white and blush pink for their elegant florals by August Sage & Violet, which, along with lots of candles, gave a soft, romantic feel to the venue, perfect for a winter wedding! Lauren’s chic dress from BHLDN was the perfect blend of classic and modern and her bridesmaids chose their own dresses in soft and neutral shades of blush. Brindamour Photography captured the whole day beautifully, so be sure to check out the photos and video as well as even more details about the day in the bride’s own words below!

How did you meet?

We were introduced by mutual friends who were secretively playing matchmaker. At the time, I lived in New York and Andrew lived in Boston, but there was an instant attraction and the long-distance didn’t get in our way.

What is your proposal story?

Andrew planned a trip down memory lane where we stopped at a few of our favorite bars and restaurants in New York from when we first started dating. After a full day reminiscing, he proposed in a small park at the end of our street.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

The dancing! We won’t forget the last hour of the night surrounded by all of our family and friends on the dance floor. All of the speeches were fantastic and had us and all of our guests laughing.

What was most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

Our band was one of our most important choices and 45 Riots did not disappoint! In our opinion, the best weddings are the ones where we spend most of the night on the dance floor. It was important for us to select a band that could handle a diverse setlist and maintain an energy in the crowd. Choosing a reception venue that was all-inclusive was also important to us. Brooklyn Winery really checked all the boxes. Their team was extremely professional and took care of all the details throughout the evening so we didn’t have to. And the food was amazing too! We love that we can visit their wine bar to celebrate our anniversary there in the future. We weren’t sure if we should splurge on a videographer, but we are so happy that we did. Rima Brindamour and her staff captured our day perfectly in photos and video.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Don’t feel like you need to include all the pieces of a traditional wedding – make it your own! Leave some time between your ceremony and reception if you can. We really enjoyed this time to spend with our bridal party and immediate family before our cocktail hour started. Also, make sure to get your pictures out of the way so that you can make it to your cocktail hour. And most importantly, try your best to stay with your bride/groom throughout the reception. It’s so easy to get pulled apart when talking to guests, but we are so thankful we did and could share the memories of the day together.
