Modern green tabletop

Amanda Auer from In The Now Weddings sent me this gorgeously modern tablescape she recently designed, and its totally perfect for Brooklyn Bride!

The venue is actually the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach. It’s brand new, just opened in May of ’09  and has a great retro beach funky theme to it. When I was concepting this shoot, I knew I wanted this table to be a “rat pack” vibe- very mid-century modern with a playful color scheme focusing mainly around whites. Clean, crisp, simple, but some killer details!

I was CRAZY about the drink flags, which said ‘CHEERS!’ in tonal green, as a perfect addition. Also, the stemmed wine glass has a very retro astro-burst pattern [reminded me of the Jetsons for sure, and it also matched the salad plate’s pattern as well]. I had to pop the color by filling the vase with kelly green water, wrapping a simple ribbon around each place setting and bringing in the french macarons as favors. I picture this for a couple looking to freshen up a throwback wedding look with a little new modern twist. 🙂

The colors ended up at kelly green, aqua, white, with touches of platinum [to give that 50’s kick to it]. Think Palm Springs meets TODAY with that funky centerpiece of Dusty Miller. My team and I actually rocked the florals ourselves [and I’m totally in love with the all-filler Dusty Miller centerpiece- totally wacky like a little tree on crack!] while we depended on Wayne Toshikazu, my photographer, to capture it.
