8th Annual Holiday Card Swap

Print

It’s finally here you guys!  In all honesty, I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it this year, but after getting tweets and emails asking when the swap was happening, I knew I had to keep the tradition alive, so time to get those creative juices flowing!

In true card swap tradition, I asked a talented designer to design the logo for this years card swap, so a HUGE thank you to the lovely Erica Loesing of Yes Ma’am!  We’ve never done a calligraphed logo before for the swap, so it was a great opportunity to start now!

Here are the rules:

Send an email to me at brooklynbride [at] gmail [dot] com with Holiday Card Swap in the subject line by November 26 [you’ve only got a week and a half to enter!]. Include your name, address, email address, website/blog address and twitter handle [if you have these].  Please send your email in this format…

@janesmith

– By December 1, I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to 5 people to send cards to.
– Your cards should be handmade or self-designed [think Gocco, glitter, Photoshop, cut + paste, sewing, etc….] Make something that’s easy to do multiples of.  You’ll be sending 1 card to each person on your list, and add in a special holiday greeting!
– Send out your cards by December 15 at the latest.

Then you just wait patiently by your mailbox!  The swap is open to our international audience, so pay special attention to postage [letters to any country in the world including Canada are now all the same price].  Please don’t disappoint your partners if you know you won’t be able to send out cards on time, or at all.

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

chroniclebooks-givebooks

With the holidays fast approaching, I’m sure most of you have already started eying potential gifts for your loved ones, and with all the wonderful books that have come out over the last few year, it would be a shame to not include a few to give.  Chronicle Books is launching their 3rd season of the Give Books campaign, where for every person who pledges to #GiveBooks via social media or here, you’re helping them reach their goal of donating 10,000 books to children in need through First Book.  You can also get 30% off + free shipping on orders at Chronicle Books (excluding personalized items) through December 31, 2014 with code GIVEBOOKS.

And as a special kick off, 1 of you lucky ducks gets a chance to win these 10 books that I’ll be giving away as gifts this season!  Keep reading for details!

For my husband, who’s the epitome of a slow (and messy!) cooker, I’ll definitely be giving him copies of these 2 cookbooks.

Cooking Slow  |  Tartine Book No. 3

BOOK 2 CRAFTY

You can never have too many craft books, and these are two of my favorites!

Paper+Craft  |  Pretty Packages

BOOK 3 HOSTESS

I know a few ladies who are quite the party planners, so an easy party kit and flower decorating book are top of my list to give them.

Decorate with Flowers  |  Pretty Paper Parties

BOOK 5 ARTIST-BABY

The 75 Artist Books I’ll probably keep for myself since I absolutely LOVE handmade books and these are stunners, and for my friends who are soon embarking on motherhood for the first time, having a guide to help you along the way is always appreciated.

To win a copy of all the books you see above, leave a comment below with what book YOU’LL be giving this year as a gift!  We’ll announce the winner on Friday.  Good luck, and #givebooks!!
