From the photographer:

Modern weddings in contemporary art museums don’t come along very often for me. As a photographer in Georgia, I see mostly more vintage, rustic weddings that are amazingly beautiful, but Tiffany and Paul’s wedding was an awesome breath of fresh air and new inspiration for me! The bride and groom live in Brooklyn but married in Atlanta at the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Museum.

Endless white space and brightly colored flowers, a ceremony underneath the old steel beams from the museum’s former 1920s industrial warehouse days… and my favorite, the studio spaces in the back courtyard that looked like a color-blocked motel set from an old movie. And of course, the best part of all: Tiffany and Paul’s tenderness with each other. I’m honored to have been a part of everything.

Real wedding: Anthony + Rusty

initial decals

It’s not every day that the team at Martha Stewart Weddings gets to put on a Broadway inspired wedding in Brooklyn, but thanks to the wedding of their special projects editor, Anthony, to his partner of 16 years, it became a reality!  Everything was super chic from the customized decals to the personalized vodka-soda favors with labels designed by MSW editorial director, Darcy Miller.  These images are just a little taste of the day and since there are so many other great details, be sure to head over to Martha Stewart Weddings and see the rest!

The backdrop was made of cut paper to mimic the pattern of the wallpaper…its a great way to tie-in decor elements.

Real wedding: Jenny + Todd

rooftop wedding

I absolutely love what this couple did for their location…who knew you could rent out a rooftop space on AirBnB for your wedding??

From the bride:

When my husband and I wed, we knew we wanted more of a celebration than a wedding. We decided to plan everything ourselves on a small budget and focus the bulk of our money where it mattered. I ended up booking a large artist space with a rooftop in South Brooklyn through AirBnB that my family and friends helped set up. We saved a lot by DIYing decorations such as tissue paper pom poms, coasters for wedding favors, and spray painted bottles with flowers as the center piece.

With about 100 people, we knew catering would be expensive nightmare. We were so lucky that our friend offered to cater the wedding and another offered to do the desserts. We had our friend focus on entrees and some special hors d’oeuvres and we also ordered a few appetizers and sides from Whole Foods. Our other friend prepared vegan, gluten free and regular cupcakes for our guests. Plus, we got fruit and 60+ french macaroons from Trader Joes!

The biggest hit was the Doritos Bar (my husband’s idea) and the scotch and cigar bar (my idea). Our guests went crazy looking at all the different Doritios flavors we had. Big tip: I reached out to the people at Frito Lay and told a representative about our idea for a wedding Dortios Bar. She ended up sending me 15 coupon vouchers that pretty much paid for the whole thing.

Our friend who made the cupcakes, Kristin, surprised us with marshmallows, custom printed with Instagram photos from Boomf. The guests were wowed by them and loved taking bite out of our photos.

Obviously, when planning our wedding we had to include our dog Whoopi. She was definitely the mascot of the party that everyone wanted to take a picture with.

To round out the night, two of our friends DJ’ed the reception and tables ended up getting pushed out of the way to make a bigger dance floor. It ended up being the best wedding we never knew we wanted!

Real wedding: Cristin + Conor

pink peony bouquet

As a second marriage for both Cristin and Conor, it was important that the day be filled with close friends, family, and 15 KIDS(!) in a laid-back setting.  Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk ended up being the perfect place to celebrate!

From the bride:

This was a second marriage for both of us and so we wanted to really do things right. When we thought about planning, we knew we wanted to get married in a beautiful, laidback place surrounded by our close family and friends for a whole weekend. We’ve both spent summers in Montauk, so it was the first place to come to mind as the perfect background for our “summer-camp-by-the-sea.”

We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years in Montauk, but one really great addition has been Ruschmeyer’s. Its sophisticated style and chilled out charm suited us perfectly. Ruschmeyer’s courtyard was the ideal magic-hour backdrop for our vows and photos. And it made a perfect playground for our 15 guests under 15 to run around while their parents danced to Braincloud, the honky-tonkin’est swing band this side of the Rio Grande.

And yes, you read that right – 15 kids were at our wedding. We wanted to make sure that the weekend was as much fun for Conor’s daughter, Clancy, and his son, Finnegan as it was for us. They both played huge roles in the wedding; Finnegan took his job of walking me down the aisle very seriously and Clancy led the way down the aisle with rose petals and happiness – you can see her beaming throughout all our photos.

Dinner, prepared by Roy Wahlers and his magical team of chefs, was nothing short of heaven. Oh and forget a wedding cake. Pies! Lots and lots of Pies!

Real wedding: Jennifer + Daniel

  brooklyn wedding couple

Since its still feeling a bit summery here in Brooklyn, it makes sense to show off this beautiful wedding with a super chic couple, stylish bridal party, and an amazing ceremony location of the waterfront.

From the bride:

From the start, Dan and I knew we wanted a wedding that captured us, no matter how many classic traditions we had to break to achieve it.  We wanted to keep it an intimate affair with a relaxed, romantic and fun vibe. We envisioned a big party that just happened to be celebrating our love for one another.
Dan and I went to high school together, but this isn’t a high school sweetheart love story.  We went through four years of school with mutual friends but never really met or spoke.  It wasn’t until we came home from college for a friend’s party that we reconnected and I knew I was going to marry this man.  It took seven years, but once he finally got down on one knee and popped the question I didn’t have to think twice before saying yes.
Almost immediately after saying yes, I had appointments to look at venues. We looked at a few “banquet hall” type of venues and quickly decided that those didn’t really represent us.  In came Galapagos Art Space, a cultural arts venue located in Dumbo, Brooklyn which features island seating on a 1,600 square foot lake. The venue has a romantic yet industrial and relaxed vibe and from the second we stepped in we knew this was the place.  Not to mention Dumbo is, in my opinion, one of the most romantic neighborhoods in New York with its cobble stone streets, views of the Manhattan skyline and the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park (which we decided to hold our ceremony in).  We couldn’t have made up a more perfect setting to celebrate our love!
Silver Arrow Band did an amazing job capturing us through music (we are a big music couple) and I don’t think there was a second that the stage was empty!  Danielle from Danielle Robinson Photography and Chris from Mint Cinematography captured every second so perfectly that I have been looking at the photos and videos on repeat since the wedding.
It was a day we will never forget and we are so impressed with everyone involved for making the day as perfect as we could have ever imagined that we wanted to submit the wedding to different blogs to make sure every vendor could get the credit they deserved! Not to mention, we have an incredible group of family and friends that just reinforced how lucky we were to be marrying into such great company.
It was truly a magical day that I don’t think we will ever be able to top (but we certainly will try!)
